François Macré - Thriller

A capella. Performed in 64 parts.

No idea what to say to describe this.

Update on Bush' Soul

President Bush has gone on record by stating he did not sell his soul during his presidency.

This comes amidst years of wild rumors that he had in fact sold his soul, and was attempting to drive the United States into the depths of hell.

According to a White House report regarding a StoryCorps oral interview conducted by President Bush' sister, Doro Bush Koch, Bush states:
I would like to be a person remembered as a person who, first and foremost, did not sell his soul in order to accommodate the political process. I came to Washington with a set of values, and I'm leaving with the same set of values.

MGMT - Electric Feel - Live from Abbey Road

Seriously. One of the Fewture's favorite songs.

As performed on Live from Abbey Road.

(Actual song starts up @ 1:30.)

Ohhhh. So that's Katy Perry.

My lovely woman has been walking around singing 'I Kissed a Girl' for months. From what she says, she likes the beat and finds it catchy.

I'm actually not all that into the song. I have nothing against it. But I just find the rhythm to be somewhat of a trainwreck. Sorry, that's me.

But, anyone who knows me, knows that MGMT's Electric Feel is one of my favorite songs. And that I love every single remix/version I hear of it cause it adds just one more flavor to it.

So, one of my favorite versions, besides the Justice remix, is by this chick with this awesome voice. It's live, super smooth and chill but captures MGMT's funk feel to it.

Yeah. So I just Googled Katy Perry and thought I'd find some little known singer.

Hey. I never claimed to follow Pop trends in music.

Japan Airline's CEO Haruka Nishimatsu Cuts his Salary

And his perks. For 3 years running.

See Detroit CEO's doing that?

No. Why? They're not true leaders. They're not like this gentleman.

'We in Japan learned during the bubble economy that businesses that pursue money first fail. The business world has lost sight of this basic tenant of business ethics.'

[Adult Swim] Robot Chicken: Take Your Daughter to Work Day: Star Wars Episode II

'These aren't the droids we're looking for. Move along.'

I can't stop watching these. They're so well done.

Santogold: The XLR8R Interview

The more I listen to Santogold's music, the more I like it. Some songs I don't like, but some (like L.E.S. Artistes, You'll Find A Way, and Lights Out ) are soooo dope.

And as far as her versatility and range goes, I mean, what do you expect from a Philly girl?

I said good day, Sir!

USB 3.0 = 10x Faster

Good. In the future, it looks like my video and music transfers will be downloading much faster. That means I will have much more time to fracture my reality by doing too many things at once.

Thanks a lot, Technology.

Via Wired: USB 3.0 to Deliver a Tenfold Speed Increase
The new spec will support data transfers at 4.8 gigabits per second, or Gbps, nearly 10 times faster than the current standard's 480 megabits per second and six times faster than FireWire 800.

Possession Obsession

Okay, I've been on a bit of a Hall & Oates kick and woke up with Possession Obsession stuck in my head today. Maybe it reflects the state of our world and the reason our economy is in the lieu. Or, maybe it's just because I wrote about it over at DeeJayDog Productions.

Anyway. Enjoy.

German inmate escapes: by mail

I don't advocate prison escapes, but come on, you have to admit, this is both hilarious and ingenious.

As the BBC reports:

A manhunt is under way in western Germany for a convicted drug dealer who escaped by mailing himself out of jail.

The 42-year-old Turkish citizen - who was serving a seven-year sentence - had been making stationery with other prisoners destined for the shops.

At the end of his shift, the inmate climbed into a cardboard box and was taken out of prison by express courier. His whereabouts are still unknown.

The Disappearing Male: How We're Castrating Ourselves with Poisons

Our demise, should it come, will likely be the result of our own stupidity. The Doc Zone's documentary on The Disappearing Male is a great example of this.

Their video embedding isn't working, but you can check out the trailer or the entire film.
"We are conducting a vast toxicological experiment in which our children and our children's children are the experimental subjects." Dr. Herbert Needleman

The Disappearing Male is about one of the most important, and least publicized, issues facing the human species: the toxic threat to the male reproductive system.

The last few decades have seen steady and dramatic increases in the incidence of boys and young men suffering from genital deformities, low sperm count, sperm abnormalities and testicular cancer.

At the same time, boys are now far more at risk of suffering from ADHD, autism, Tourette's syndrome, cerebral palsy, and dyslexia.

The Disappearing Male takes a close and disturbing look at what many doctors and researchers now suspect are responsible for many of these problems: a class of common chemicals that are ubiquitous in our world.

Found in everything from shampoo, sunglasses, meat and dairy products, carpet, cosmetics and baby bottles, they are called "hormone mimicking" or "endocrine disrupting" chemicals and they may be starting to damage the most basic building blocks of human development.

Prop 8

As far as I'm concerned, the fact that Prop 8 passed is a complete injustice. Further, the fact that the Black population that came out for Obama 'voted overwhelmingly' to pass Prop 8 is an enormous contradiction.

Here's an insightful interview from the LA Times:
For Trebor Healey, a 46-year-old gay man from Glendora, Tuesday's election was bittersweet.

He was thrilled that the nation elected its first African American president. But he was disappointed that black voters, traditionally among the most reliably liberal in the state, voted overwhelmingly to ban same-sex marriage.

He understands that there are differences between the civil rights battles of blacks and gays: For one thing, he notes, gay people have a much easier time blending in. Still, he says, he thinks it's sad that "people do not equate one civil rights struggle with another."
And here's an even better bit by Jon Stewart:

Palin Didn't Know Africa is a Continent

This would be so hilarious! If it wasn't actually scary as hell.

So, the McCain campaign used Palin as a Hail Mary play (no Biblical pun intended) without proper vetting, she spent gads of money on clothes for herself and family, DIDN'T KNOW AFRICA WAS A CONTINENT (when her Presidential opponent was one generation removed from Africa), but she was defended (praised) by McCain--and is now talking 2012???

Seriously? The Republicans were cynical enough to make and sponsor this choice? And think she should continue as a national political figure?

Sounds like there's more and more Palin skits coming our way. Shame their Reality TV.

Africans elated by first black U.S. president - CNN.com

I think the reporting on the reaction of the world's public to Obama's win is amazing:
Africans elated by first black U.S. president - CNN.com: "Residents picked up the president-elect's half-brother Malik and carried him through the village, The Associated Press reported. 'Unbelievable!' Malik shouted, leading the family in chanting, 'Obama's coming, make way!'

Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki called Obama's election 'a momentous day not only in the history of the United States of America, but also for us in Kenya. The victory of Senator Obama is our own victory because of his roots here in Kenya. As a country, we are full of pride for his success.'"
