My friend d was part of the art exhibit. It was both surreal and fitting to go there and see art that used to hang in the living room of our place in the Mission.
Imagine an old Victorian-style hotel from any English film. Only packed full with modern, eye-popping art lining 4 floors of narrow, densely packed hipsters, arties, and a bunch of peeps that haven't fully made it back from Burning Man yet.
The best part was the Shephard Fairey room. That guy does some cool stuff. I loved way he plays off of iconographic type images. And the detail of the 'wallpaper' of the room was amazing. The way the black 'tiles' (that's what I'm calling them okay) fractured and collided with the red tiles in an organic way that was somewhat rippling was my favorite part of the night.
Cool stuff. Amazing scene.
Lots of great art. I was so impressed. Much fun. 30 minutes of mishing my way around and taking a bunch of pics. It was hot and constricted in there, so I was ready to jet after that.
On my way out, I finally ran into my gang. I wished d well, but it was too hot and crowded and I wasn't going back in.
